CHEC Director, Dr Kasem Kolnary, and Mr Barry Edwards (AVI volunteer) facilitated the skills building workshop at the 16th International AIDS Conference in Toronto, Canada in August 2006, with assistance from Ms Rim Rina (CHEC staff). 

The workshop was run on the third day of the conference, with 55 people in attendance.

This Workshop has led participants through the steps in developing a community approach to HIV/AIDS prevention, support and treatment, including TB.  This includes skills in community HIV/AIDS, TB, ARV and STI education approaches, development of Community Action Groups, monitoring, evaluation, and cooperation.

Out of the respondents to the evaluation, 71% of them [said they] would recommend the workshop to colleagues.
